Who Can Claim British Citizenship by Descent?
Overview
- The Student Visitor Visa (now replaced by the Short-Term Study Visa) allows international students to undertake short courses in the UK for:
- Up to 6 months (for most short courses)
- Up to 11 months (for English language courses only)
Key Features:
- Study at an accredited UK institution
- No work permitted (paid or unpaid)
- No extensions beyond 11 months
- Cannot bring family members
Eligibility Requirements
- Be 16+ years old
- Have an unconditional offer from a licensed UK institution
- Prove sufficient funds for course fees + living costs
- Intend to leave the UK after studies
- Not use this as a route to long-term study
